After a year of hard work in qualifying classes, Hurst students proudly represented the college at the NSEA Championships held at Addington Manor, Buckinghamshire. Seven teams and twenty individual combinations contested titles across all four disciplines - showjumping, dressage, combined training, and jumping with style. With qualifications for championships at every height available, from 70cm to 1.20m, the four-day event was packed with action. Thanks to the commitment and teamwork of everyone involved, it proved to be a resounding success.
In the showjumping, Hurst Equestrian saw great results at every height:
Both 70cm teams put in fantastic performances, finishing on scores of zero. However, in the competitive class they sadly were not fast enough to qualify for the final. A huge well done to Darcey G, Hettie MC, Annabel J, Rossanna A, Rosie YJ, Florence MC, and Scarlet C for qualifying and producing such lovely rounds at the championships. Watch them in action below:
Hurst Blue finished on a score of zero and a fast combined time in the 80cm, finishing in the top 8 in the 38-team class. This qualified them for the final where they remained faultless and achieved a podium position of 3rd. Well done Louise MS, Darcey G, Scarlet Z, and Olivia S. Louise also came second in the 80cm warm up class the day before as well, congratulations!
On Friday Evening, Lars D, Louise MS and Scarlet Z partook in the 90cm New Windsor Challenge, finishing in 6th place.
Check these clips of the Windsor Team getting 6th, along with the 80cm team qualifying for the final:
The same team that contested the Windsor Challenge went forward to the 90cm Championship. They did exceptionally well in the first round, finishing in pole position as one of only three teams to finish on a score of zero. They pulled out all the stops in the final but sadly had a couple of poles meaning they finished in 6th place with eight faults.
In the 90cm Championships Lars D received the Best of the Rest Award for riding the fastest round of a rider who had not qualified for the championship as an individual.
The 1m team became Champions! They won over a couple of very challenging rounds. A huge congratulations to Lars D, Morten D, Olivia S, and Ralf B.
Brothers Morten and Lars D did exceptionally well in the 1.10m finals, with Morten finishing 3rd in the 1.10m horse final, and Lars coming 4th in the 1.10m pony final.
Ralf B finished on the podium in 3rd place in the 1.20m horse final, the biggest height jumped at the championships.
In the dressage ring Olivia S competed in the Novice Individual Championships. She rode a good test, finishing on a very respectable score of 66.5% and in 10th place out of 25 riders, just missing out on a rosette.
Watch Olivia in the dressage, along with Morten, Lars and Ralf in the 1.10m and 1.20m finals:
Alongside his success in the showjumping championships, Ralf B took on the 1.10m Jumping with Style championship in which he finished in 2nd place. Clips of his round can be seen below:
He also competed in the 1m Combined Training Individual final with both his horses. He scored a very impressive 75.65% in the dressage on his mare Skyline and jumped clear showjumping meaning that he won the championship. His other horse CBH Clover Lining also jumped clear and scored 67.83% in the dressage, gaining him another podium finish in 3rd place. Over the course of the championships Ralf achieved five top three championship finishes, well done!
Here he is winning the 1m Combined Training Championship:
At the end of the competition, Hurst riders took home 10 championship results, including 7 podium finishes. A huge well done to everyone who made this hugely successful championship possible. Every student involved represented the college excellently, both in and out of the ring. We look forward to returning in 2026!
