On Thursday 24th September, Hurst Equestrian hosted our annual Inter-Schools Show Jumping Competition at the iconic Hickstead Showground. Bathed in sunshine, the event welcomed riders from more than thirty schools and proved to be a fantastic day of sport, teamwork, and achievement.

The competition opened with Class 1, the 45–50cm optimum time class, where riders could be led or assisted. Both Hurst teams delivered brilliant performances, with Hurst Red winning the class and Hurst Blue finishing 6th. Congratulations to Poppy R, Becca V and Lucy OK on their team victory. Hurst riders also shone individually, with Millie H taking 2nd place and Becca V close behind in 3rd.

Success continued into Class 2, the 65–70cm, where Hurst Green claimed the win. A huge well done to Poppy R, Elsa S, Atticus AH and Rosanna A for their excellent rounds.

Class 3, the 85–90cm, proved to be a challenging track, with only one team, the Davison Diamonds, finishing on a zero score. Despite a few faults, Hurst Orange secured a respectable 6th place.

Hurst riders finished the day in style in the final class, the 1m. The team of Rosie C, Darcey G and Mia B achieved an impressive 2nd place. A special congratulations goes to Mia, who won the individual competition with a superbly quick clear round.

A huge thank you to everyone who contributed to making the day such a success. The event is a true team effort across Hurst College - staff, students, and volunteers alike. Our ring stewards were both former Hurst pupils, and every member of the ring party was a student generously giving their time to help the day run smoothly.
