Hurst Equestrian Events
In addition to the regular weekly training, and Monday session for students stabled at Hascombe, Hurst Equestrian run and attend a number of events annually. In May, Hurst Euqestrian run a four day residential camp for students of all ages, in September Hurst Equestrian run the Hurst College Inter-School Show Jumping Compeition, and throughout the year they attend various events for school teams.

Our four-day residential camp aims to provide Hurst riders with the opportunity to train with a variety of coaches across dressage, show jumping and cross-country. The camp also features various talks and demos from industry experts on matters of equestrian care. In 2023, students were able to tour the world class stud facilities at Breen Equestrian, learnt a lot during a talk and demo from an equine dentist. and enjoyed a variety of other informative activities. In 2025, the number of attendees doubled, and students enjoyed trainings, talks, and a trip to the cross country facilities at Coombelands Equestrian.

We are looking forward to our next camp in 2026, which will be held at Hickstead Showground, making use of their new state of the art facilites for camps.

The Hurst College National Schools Jumping Championships

This will be the 62nd iteration of the National Schooling Jumping Championship at Hickstead, which Hurst College has been proudly sponsoring for a number of years. The show features the Hickstead Elite 1.10m Championships, alongside the Junior and Senior competitions, which all have their finals in the prestigious International Arena.

Hurst College runs their Inter-School Team & Individual Show Jumping Competition every September at Hickstead Showground, with classes ranging from 40cm to 1m.
There are opportunities for a variety of abilities. Those in the smallest class may compete with an assistant - which means young riders can jump on lead rein.
Any Hurst riders who do not compete at this event have the opportunity to help to run the event with responsibilities such as helping to set the show jumping courses, managing the collecting ring, manning the Secretary’s desk and providing refreshments.
