Welcome to Hurst Equestrian
The Equestrian programme at Hurst College has been growing every year for the past 10 years. Hurst pupils consistently achieve impressive results in national and international competitive events. Hurst Equestrian has a lot to offer students, including weekly training sessions with our regular coaches (Harriet Upton and Ashely Boyce), training opportunities with Olympic riders Tina Cook and Fiona Bigwood, the chance to compete across the country in a variety of disciplines, an annual residential camp, and the chance to be stabled at Hascombe Farm Equestrian Centre on the Hurst yard.

Our training programme caters for riders of all ages and abilities and pupils regularly represent the school in classes ranging from 40cm to 1.20m. Weekly training as part of the school programme enables pupils to meet as a team and progress their riding abilities together.

Pupils can take part in a variety of disciplines including show jumping, arena eventing, one day events, and dressage. Coaching takes place on Thursday afternoons at Hascombe Farm Equestrian Centre, or Hickstead Showground for eventing practice.
The success of the Hurst Equestrian programme is evident in the results our pupils have achieve in recent years. These include:
-
Hickstead Elite 1.10 Senior Team and Individual Champions 2024
-
British Show Jumping Awards 2024 - two Hurst pupils won first places
-
NSEA Championship 2024 - multiple championship placings

In August 2024 Hurst's permanent stables at Hascombe Farm Equestrian Centre, in the South Downs National Park, were opened. The stables give students the opportunity to keep their horses together, train together, and have access to the phenomenal facilities that Hascombe has to offer. Students with their horse stabled at Hascombe have the opportunity to ride on a Monday afternoon as a part of their electives.
