Rosettes in Every Class

Updated: Jul 31

The Hurst Equestrian team attended their final competition of the lent term with phenomenal results. Students were entered in every class at the event, ranging from 40cm to 1.10m, with Hurst rider’s winning rosettes at every height.

It was a busy show at Coombelands Equestrian, with two rings running most of the day. The show was off to a good start in the Grassroots ring with Willow I and Hettie MC competing in the 40cm class, which was judged on penalties and style marks. Both riders jumped clear so it came down to points for style…. Willow just missed out on a rosette, finishing in 9th position, and well done to Hettie who finished 6th and has qualified for the Grassroots Championships held at Hickstead in August! Willow and Hettie both competed in the next class, the 50cm, and once again they both jumped lovely clears, with Hettie coming 4th and picking up a second qualification. A big well done to Hettie for achieving two rosettes and two championship qualifications, especially as she was at her first show with her very new pony Abby!

Florence MC joined her sister in success in the following classes, jumping a lovey neat clear in the 60cm to finish 8th. Florence then upped her game for the 70cm, pulling off some wonderful turns in the jump off to finish 5th , qualifying for the championships. The sister duo of Hettie and Florence MC finished the show with four fantastic results from the four classes they entered. Well done!

Over in the NSEA ring, things were also going well for Hurst riders. Scarlett C had a great first show with her new pony Otto, jumping a lovely double clear in the 70cm. Darcy G also jumped clear, and pulled off a fast jump off to finish 3rd and qualified for the NSEA championships held at Addington in October. Darcy also did incredibly well in the 80cm, coming 5th and 7th individually with her two ponies. In the 90cm the Hurst Team performed well, finished in 3rd position, with team members Henry C and Danielle I jumping lovely double clears.

Hurst riders saw fantastic results in the 1m class, which was a qualifier for the Hickstead Elite team final held in May. Team Hurst Red won the class, being the only team to finish on a score of zero, meaning that they qualified. Well done Ralf B, Scarlette SH, and Lars D. Ralf’s round was fast enough to result in him finishing in 3rd place, and Lars’ speedy round meant he came 5th.

Hurst riders also had a great 1.10m class, with Ralf coming in 2nd individually in the horse section, qualifying for Hickstead Elite individual final in June, and Lars D won the pony section with a brilliant clear over the challenging course, qualifying for the final as well.

It was a brilliant show, with lots of fantastic riding across the board. The wonderful day resulted in a lot of championship qualifications and rosettes. A huge well done to all students who took part.
