On March the 2nd, Hurst Equestrian riders attended a Just for Schools League show held at Coomblelands Equestrian. This was the first event of it’s type that Hurst riders have attended, and they did exceptionally well. Students competed at heights ranging from 70cm to 1m, with Hurst pupils taking the win in every class they competed in, and every attending Hurst student took home at least one rosette.
The day started off well, with Rosie Crumley winning the 70cm. It was a very fast and competitive class, but Rosie put in a super performance for a very speedy round. Darcey Gilbert also did well, coming 4th and 5th on her two ponies, both jumping lovely clears. Olivia Smith won the 80cm, which is a brilliant result as it was the first time she had ever competed at a British Showjumping competition. Lars Dahl then won the 90cm with a fantastic clear round. In the 1m class Lars produced another brilliant clear round bringing home 2nd place, with Ralf Birkby taking the win. There were only a few hundredths of a second between the two riders!
The Just for Schools Leage is run by British Showjumping, The Pony Club, and British Riding Club. By competing (and winning!) riders gain points towards the National School Leage for each height. Those at the top of the league by the end of the qualifying period will qualify for the Championships. This show was an excellent starting point for pupils, with a lot of points being gained.
Well done to everyone who attended and contributed to these fantastic results.
