Five Wins at Felbridge!

Sunday, 7 September, marked the first show of the new academic year for many members of the Hurst Equestrian Team, and it was a fantastic start to the year! This show also provided one of the final opportunities for teams and individuals to qualify for the October NSEA championships.

In the show jumping ring, the 70cm team got off to a flying start with a win, securing their place  in the championships. Congratulations to Darcey G, Rosie C, Annabel J, and Lily A. It was the first time representing the College for both Annabel and Lily, and what a wonderful start for them both. Darcey also finished in 3rd place individually, qualifying for the 70cm individual championships with her very speedy round.

In the 80cm class, Darcey, Rosie, and Annabel jumped again as a team of three, winning the class and qualifying with a score of zero and a speedy time. This was Annabel’s first ever 80cm, and she did exceptionally well to jump clear and contribute to the team’s win. Rosie also performed well individually, finishing in 6th place.

Later in the day, the 1m team secured the third Hurst win of the day. Congratulations to Morten D, Lars D, and Scarlet SH. Brothers Morten and Lars both jumped very competitive rounds, with Morten winning the class and Lars coming a close second, with only 0.19 seconds between their times. Both boys have qualified for the 1m class as individuals.

Over in the Jumping With Style ring, Hurst riders also excelled. Olivia S jumped in her first JWS class and produced a lovely clear round, although she was sadly out of the placings. In the final JWS class of the day, Ralf B delivered a spectacular clear round, scoring 140/150 style marks in the 1.10m. He won the class and qualified as an individual for the championships.

By the end of the day, Hurst had achieved five wins (three team and two individual) and seven qualifications for the championships. A huge congratulations to everyone who participated in this show and contributed to the amazing results!
