Combined Training and Grass Roots Qualifications

On 21 September, Hurst Equestrian team members attended an NSEA competition at Felbridge Showground. The show had a combination of classes, with NSEA dressage and combined training, alongside Grass Roots showjumping. The NSEA classes were all qualifiers for the NSEA championships being held in Buckinghamshire in less than a month, and the Grass Roots classes qualified students for the Regional Grass Roots Championships.

The day started off exceptionally well, with the Hurst Team winning the 40cm Grass Roots class. A huge well done Atticus AH and Willow I - who rode two ponies for the Hurst Team. Both riders also did well individually, with Willow picking up 1st and 3rd, and Atticus coming 2nd! A huge well done to Hurst’s youngest riders, aged just 6 and 7, who have qualified for the Grass Roots Championships.

In the following class, the 50cm, Hurst students again achieved great team and individual results. The team, consisting of Penny G, Hettie MC, Sienna P, and Elsa S came 3rd, with Elsa picking up another 3rd place rosette individually. Willow also rode again in this class, and came 5th riding Billy.  A big well done to all these riders, who have also qualified.

Success continued into the 60cm! The team, made up of Elsa, Penny, and Hetti, who were all jumping their second classes of the day. They all went round with lovely clears, finishing on a score of zero and coming 2nd. Elsa did an excellent round, picking up her fourth rosette of the day when she finished in 2nd place. Well done riders, all of whom have, again, qualified.

Hurst riders also did very well in the combined training classes with Izzy A winning the 80cm individually. Her dressage score of 17 was extremely impressive, and she followed it up with a great clear round in the showjumping. No other rider achieved such a competitive score in any combined training class that day, so a massive well done to Izzy. Her amazing result meant that she has qualified for the Combined Training Championships next month.

In the following class, Olivia S gave a good performance in the 90cm. She got a very respectable score of 27.3 in the dressage and jumped a lovely clear round. Her performance got her 5th place, sadly just one spot away from an individual qualification.

Then finally, in the last class of the day, the 1m, Ralf B had two rides. His horse Sky jumped a lovely clear round and scored 23.3 for the dressage, enough to come 2nd and qualify, with Charlie also finishing in a qualifying spot in 4th place.

Well done to all the Hurst riders who competed at this show, there were some amazing results! Hurst riders achieved three team and six individual Grass Roots qualifications, alongside three individual qualifications for the NSEA Combined Training Championships. What a day!
