The Hurst College National Schools Jumping Championships 2026
Updated: Sep 22
On the 1st of September the 62nd edition of The Hurst College National Schools Jumping Championships took place at The All England Showjumping Course, Hickstead. The show had been postponed from June, as the original date fell during a red weather warning for severe heat. The day attracted riders from across the country, as well as a few from abroad, with two young riders who competed representing China an
d France.
The day started in rings 3 and 4, with Junior and Senior students battling out to be in the top 10 teams in their respective classes. All individuals who jump clear rounds progress to either the Junior or Senior Individual final.
Hurst Equestrian put forward two teams for the Junior final, with the team consisting of Darcey G, Rosie C, Amelie P, and Rosie YJ finishing on a score of 4 faults in the outside ring, which meant the team finished inside the top 10 and qualified for the finals held in the prestigious International Arena at Hickstead. It was not to be for the other team, however Scarlett C jumped a lovely clear to qualify for the individual final.
It was a hotly contested final with a tricky course, and only one team finishing on a score of zero. The Hurst team did extremely very well, only picking up four faults and with some speedy rounds they secured second place. Well done!
Scarlett did very well as an individual in the incredibly fast class, jumping clear and finishing 4th on her new horse, Winnie.
In the outside rings for the Senior Championship the Hurst Team did very well indeed, being one of only three teams to finish on a score of zero and easily qualifying for the final. Sadly it was not meant to be in the final as the big atmosphere in the International Arena getting the best of a few of our combinations. A congratulations goes to Isla A, who jumped a lovely double clear and was only just out of the individual placings.
