April Achievements

Another busy and successful month for the Hurst Equestrian Team has been and gone!

The first competition of April was held at Felbridge, with the show featuring a variety of disciplines. Hurst students competed in the Eventers Challenge classes, the Jumping with Style competitions, and Combined Training classes.

Emma G had a very good show, winning the 90cm Eventers Challenge, qualifying her for the Championships held at Hickstead in May. She was also 2nd in the 90cm Jumping with Style class, where the judge awards additional points to riders based on how well they rode. This result has qualified Emma for the Jumping with Style Championships held at Addington in October. She finished her day by receiving a respectable 7th place finish in the 90m combined training, where competitors ride a dressage test as well as jumping course. Well done Emma for such a successful show!

Darcey G took part in her first ever Combined Training event with her two ponies, and finished with good scores, especially considering she had accidentally learnt the wrong test so had to learn the new one very quickly! Well done Darcey for staying calm and riding brilliantly under the added pressure. Danielle I also did well in the Combined training class with her horse Duke, finishing in 6th place.

On the 13th Farlington School hosted a show at Coombelands Equestrian Centre, with a few Hurst students partaking and picking up rosettes. Well done to Willow I who came 7th in the 40cm, Rosie C who was 5th in the 70cm, and Lyla YJ who was 3rd in the 90cm.

The final competition of April was the held at the end of the month, also at Coombelands Equestrian Centre. Sienna P and Willow I both did well in the 40cm Grassroots class, achieving 5th and 7th respectively. Willow also achieved 7th 50cm, and was also clear in the 60cm.  Scarlett C did well in the NSEA ring, jumping a lovely double clear in the 70cm.

And finally, a huge congratulations to Darcy B, who has been selected to compete on the British team in Austria over the first weekend of May as part of the selection process for the European Championships in July. We wish her all the best and cannot wait to hear how she gets on!

Well done to all Hurst riders who have competed this month, both for the school and in other competitions. Now attention turns to final preparations for the four-day residential camp which is taking place the first weekend of May!
